Senior Cost Analyst Job Duties:  

• Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs)
• Review financial data, including budgets, forecasts, and actual expenses, to provide timely cost reports for management
• Generate and present cost analysis reports to management, identifying trends, variances, and potential savings
• Collaborate with operations and finance to analyze product costs
• Build and maintain cost estimation models to support budgeting, forecasting, and new product cost assessments
• Lead updates of standard costs to accurately assign material, labor, and overhead expenses
• Support inventory audits and reconciliations, including physical count validation
• Assist with journal entries, reconciliations, and other tasks related to cost and inventory during month-end close
• Work with the finance team to assess current item costs and suggest cost-saving measures
• Collaborate with various teams to gather data and create cost models for pricing and profitability analysis
• Provide analysis and recommendations to improve and optimize processes around inventory management

Senior Cost Analyst Skills/Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business req
• 4+ years of analysis experience within a plant environment
• Familiarity with cost accounting principles and practices
• Advanced/expert level proficiency in Excel
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize and analyze large amounts of data
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with various teams
• Ability to learn new tools and implement improved processes
