Senior Payroll Manager Job Duties: 

• Supervise a team of 9 direct reports
• Perform end-to-end people management activities: recruitment, onboarding, training and development, performance management, and team quality
• Act as an escalation point of contact for payroll processing, when needed, to resolve escalated issues and problems with internal and external stakeholders and third-party vendors
• Collaborate with all levels of HR, Benefits, Finance, IT to assess and select payroll software upgrades
• Create an operational framework for daily backups and a comprehensive business continuity plan
• Ensure work instructions are created, organized, up-to-date, and reviewed regularly
• Partner with Finance on bank reconciliations, suspect check reports, escheatment, and tax payments initiated within the payroll processing
• Manage special payroll processing for annual merit increases, bonuses, off-cycle payments, and other business events
• Review and certify payroll and Soc 1 signoffs as required
• Work with the payroll vendors to ensure pay disbursements, tax deposits, and tax filings are completed accurately and timely
• Ensure all regulatory requirements and updates are performed and completed as required
• Collaborate with Senior Leadership Team to ensure best practices are in place and shared with other regions to follow company policies, regional regulatory requirements, and the global payroll strategy
• Assess technology requirements and changes and ensure that updates are completed by the vendor in a timely and complete manner
• Establish and oversee new hire onboarding; manage payroll tasks including data collection, error resolution, milestone communication, validating balances, and making necessary adjustments

Senior Payroll Manager Skills/Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, human resources, Senior or related field
• 7+ years of experience in multi-state, complex US payroll
• In-depth knowledge and experience of payroll calculation and processing for the US
• Experience with common HCM, payroll, and time/attendance systems
• Experience managing a team in global business service center
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) preferred
• Experience processing payroll for Puerto Rico, preferred 
• Experience with data analysis and complex calculations 
• Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including intermediate to advanced Excel functionality
• Proficient with large-scale payroll software usage and implementation experience preferred
• Solid critical thinking and attention to detail
• Superb communication skills required
