One of our premier Tampa-based clients is seeking a Director of Payroll for an amazing career opportunity! This leader will be responsible for overseeing multi-state payroll, manage a team, and collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders. Director of Payroll Work Arrangement and Compensation:

Director of Payroll Job Responsibilities: 

• Perform and/or oversee all activities necessary to process payroll for multiple companies/pay groups in various states including maintaining employee related records
• Supervise, coach and train payroll processing staff.  Assign duties and examine work for accuracy and conformance to payroll policies and procedures
• Ensure commitment to process improvement and cross-functional collaboration with business partners to build an efficient and scalable payroll process
• Partner with the HR team to review and improve UKG system configurations to drive error-proof process and ensure all processes/data are current and consistent
• Responsible for bank transactions.  Must be able to compile and submit a payroll account bank transfer to cover payroll check issues and payroll ACH transfers
• Review, document, and update written procedures and workflows
• Complete the set-up and testing of the PTO Plan
• Run edit reports and ensure appropriate payroll audited processes are in place prior to processing payrolls
• Approve special payrolls when needed
• Audit and provide supplemental support to payroll manager formatting of payroll upload files - Kronos (T&A) and UKG
• Maintains payroll project tracker related to ongoing payroll issues
• Conduct continual UKG auditing and maintenance for workflows from other systems into UKG for accuracy
• Follow-up and resolve system issues related to timely submission of interfaces and data
• Ensure accurate, timely processing of new hires, transfers, promotions, terminations, and LOAs within UKG
• Produce and maintain updated processing schedules
• Audit payroll for accuracy and compliance of policies and procedures
• Provide supplemental support to the payroll manager for reconciliation of the 401K and compliance audits
• Resolve escalated payroll related issues
• Conduct year-end payroll closeout audits
• Liaise with auditors and the payroll tax team
• Perform other duties as assigned

Director of Payroll Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in business.  MBA preferred
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) preferred
• Minimum of 8+ years of experience designing payroll processes, processing payroll and managing the payroll function
• Direct UltiPro payroll experience highly preferred
• Multi-state experience required
• Experience with payroll system configuration and management required
• Proficient in UltiPro payroll set-up and processing, including knowledge of Federal, State and local tax regulations.  Knowledge of Canadian payroll processing would be a plus
• Demonstrate effective use of the UltiPro service support model to ensure maximum system optimization
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook); advanced Excel Skills, including Pivot Tables, Vlookups. Visio a plus
