Senior Cost Accountant Job Duties:

• Responsible for all things costing and inventory analysis - COGS, production reporting, KPI reporting, standard costing, cost savings initiatives, and transactional accounting
• Maintain, support and improve costing methodologies and KPI reporting for inventory and management cost reporting
• Ensure accuracy of inventory valuation and support cost standard updates
• Analyze variances to standards
• Monitor and analyze inventory transactions and processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with corporate policies
• Monthly manufacturing and overhead variance research, analysis and reporting, including labor/overhead absorption
• Understanding and evaluate product/SKU level margins through key strategic reporting and analysis
• Make recommendations for improvements in operations, logistics, procurement and other functions to improve profitability and inventory accuracy
• Coordinate required inventory reserves and ensure appropriate disposition of aged product
• Provide support to cross functional teams
• Participate in the annual budgeting process, including preparation of standard costs
• Prepare for and participate in internal and external reviews and audits
• Various special projects, as needed

Cost Accountant Skills/Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 3+ years of cost accounting/transactional accounting
• Background must demonstrate a sound understanding of manufacturing and cost accounting principles from previous work experience
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly with advanced Excel (pivots/lookups at a minimum)
• Prior experience/use and proficiency of ERP software systems
• Strong technical and analytical skills
• Superb attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and excellent written and communications skills required
