Job Description
Accountant – In office
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join the team of our dynamic and growing real estate client. As an Accountant with our client, you will be responsible for a wide range of accounting tasks, with a focus on journal entries, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, account analysis, process improvements, and active participation in month-end close activities. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement.

Accountant Job Duties:
- Set up, prepare, and submit timely and accurate construction draw tracking forms in accordance with the bank approved budget, as well as loan document instructions.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including general ledger/sub-ledger tie outs and job cost adjustments monthly.
- Compile monthly job cost reports, including actual to budget variance analysis, for internal and external distribution to key stakeholders.
- Monitor budget variances and performance metrics and provide insightful analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning.
- Review and approve required equity packages for lenders.
- Enter and approve all submitted AIA-G702 for completeness and accuracy.
- Create Development Fee and Construction Management Fee invoices.
- Track and record all draw fundings, contractor/vendor payments, and lien waivers.
- Calculate monthly site work reimbursements and tenant improvement overages and invoice tenants monthly.
- Work closely with the VP of Construction on all aspects of the monthly draw process.
- Work closely with Finance to ensure job costs are tracked according to lender budget.
- Enter and maintain project development budgets, including change orders, in the software system.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.
- Ad hoc reporting.
Accountant Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 3+ years’ experience in Job Cost Accounting in the commercial real estate industry.
- Strong understanding of real estate accounting principles.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Proficient in MS Office 365.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Deadline and detail oriented.
- Experience with Sage Intacct a plus.
