Accountant
Job Description
Accountant | Tampa Bay, FL | Competitive Compensation + Full Benefits
Join a mission-driven organization in the Tampa Bay area as an Accountant and step into a role where your financial expertise directly supports meaningful community impact. This is a broad, hands-on position that spans the full accounting cycle — from month-end close and reconciliations to budgeting, forecasting, and audit support — giving you real variety and ownership across the finance function. You will work closely with operational and program teams, serving as a trusted financial partner whose analysis and recommendations help leadership make better decisions. The organization manages a diverse portfolio of properties, programs, and grants, meaning the work is substantive and the scope expands your skills in ways a single-entity role simply cannot. Leadership here is collaborative and invested in the team's success, and the environment offers stability alongside a genuine sense of purpose. If you bring a strong GAAP foundation, advanced Excel skills, and the analytical mindset to turn financial data into actionable insight, this is a role worth your attention.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage financial activities across an assigned portfolio of properties, grants, and programs — ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness across all functions.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning efforts in support of organizational and operational goals.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with the clarity and accuracy that leadership depends on.
- Analyze financial trends and provide actionable recommendations to leadership that support informed, strategic decision-making.
- Monitor cash flow, banking activity, and investment positions on an ongoing basis.
- Perform account reconciliations and execute monthly close activities with discipline and attention to detail.
- Support annual audits and regulatory reporting requirements, serving as a reliable point of contact for external reviewers.
- Partner with property management and operational teams to align financial strategy with day-to-day operational realities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field — OR an Associate's degree in Accounting with ten or more years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and the ability to apply it consistently across a multi-program, multi-entity environment.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills — you use it daily and are comfortable with complex data manipulation and analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a structured, detail-oriented approach to financial work.
- Valid Florida Driver's License and ability to meet applicable insurance requirements.
- Experience with a property management or real estate accounting software platform.
Why you'll love working here
- Work that matters — your financial stewardship directly supports programs and properties that make a tangible difference in the community.
- Broad scope across properties, grants, and programs that keeps the work varied, substantive, and skill-building.
- A collaborative, supportive environment where operational and finance teams work closely together toward shared goals.
- Organizational stability with the sense of purpose that comes from working somewhere with a genuine mission.
- Competitive compensation commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
