Key Responsibilities

• Process and manage accounts payable transactions accurately and in accordance with internal procedures.
• Handle accounts receivable functions, including posting payments, tracking balances, and following up on outstanding items.
• Perform day-to-day transactional accounting to keep the general ledger current and accurate.
• Reconcile accounts and investigate discrepancies with a detail-oriented and methodical approach.
• Support donation and contribution tracking activity, particularly during peak giving periods.
• Maintain organized and complete financial records to support reporting and audit readiness.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve coding questions, payment issues, and documentation needs.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities as needed.
• Identify and communicate potential errors or irregularities in financial data in a professional manner.
• Support process improvement efforts and help maintain efficient, well-documented workflows.
• Provide backup and cross-functional support across the accounting team during high-volume periods.
• Contribute to a positive, professional team environment where accuracy and accountability are shared values.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required for candidates with fewer than five years of experience; non-accounting degree considered with substantial relevant experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas; pivot tables and VLOOKUP experience a strong plus.
• Solid understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
• Nonprofit accounting experience is a significant plus.
• Confident communicator who will proactively raise concerns without creating unnecessary disruption.
• Highly organized, dependable, and able to manage competing priorities with a calm, steady approach.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all financial work.
• Comfortable working independently while remaining a collaborative and approachable team member.
