Senior Manager – Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager – Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting individual to join one of our premier client’s dynamic finance team. In this key leadership role, you will oversee complex accounting matters, ensure compliance with evolving regulations, and drive accurate financial reporting. You will collaborate cross-functionally to provide technical guidance on critical transactions and process improvements. Senior Manager Job Duties:
- Lead the development of cost control systems, standard costing, and financial analysis.
- Serve as a key technical accounting resource, leading research on complex accounting and reporting issues, including those related to foreign currency transactions, goodwill impairment testing, and equity-based compensation.
- Consult with business leaders and finance teams to assess the accounting and financial reporting implications of complex transactions and develop appropriate guidance.
- Prepare and review technical accounting memos and position papers for executive leadership and external auditors.
- Communicate and train stakeholders on new accounting standards and emerging financial reporting regulations.
- Direct and oversee the preparation and review of external financial reports, including SEC filings such as 10-Qs, 10-Ks, earnings releases, and 8-Ks.
- Lead interactions with external auditors, ensuring smooth coordination on technical accounting matters.
- Assess and enhance internal controls related to financial reporting and complex accounting areas.
- Mentor and guide junior team members, helping to build expertise in technical accounting and research.
- Strong knowledge of accounting for foreign currency transactions, goodwill and intangible assets, and stock-based compensation.
Senior Manager Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required. MBA preferred
- CPA certification req. and Big 4 public accounting highly preferred
- 7+ years of experience handling technical research and public reporting
- Must possess strong GAAP knowledge
- SEC reporting exp. required and the ability to handle complex technical accounting issues
- Advanced Excel experience required
- Prior experience with a large ERP system
- Ability to meet strict deadlines, both independently and as part of a team
- Detail oriented and the ability to deliver work products with a high degree of accuracy
- Strong verbal and written skills, and the ability to convey complex information
- Attention to detail, able to learn quickly, ask questions, document processes
