Controller
Location: Tampa Bay, FL
A mission-driven nonprofit organization in the Tampa Bay area is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented and strategic Controller to lead its accounting operations. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and a part-time remote CFO, overseeing all aspects of financial management, reporting, and compliance. The ideal candidate will bring nonprofit experience, strong technical skills, and a collaborative mindset.

What You’ll Do:
- Oversee daily accounting and finance operations
- Lead monthly close processes and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting
- Prepare for and coordinate external audits and regulatory reviews
- Collaborate with program leaders to align financial practices with operational goals
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Partner with HR and IT to improve systems integration and organizational efficiency
- Supervise and mentor a team of 2
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, CPA or MBA preferred
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including in a nonprofit setting
- Strong understanding of third-party billing and grant compliance
- Experience with audit coordination, financial reporting, and analysis
- Proficiency in accounting software and Excel; tech-savvy mindset
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Integrity, adaptability, and a commitment to mission-driven work
