Controller
Salary: $80,000–$100,000 and stellar benefits (salary commensurate with experience)
Location: Tampa, FL (Hybrid: 4 days in-office, Fridays remote)
We are seeking an experienced Controller to join a dynamic, mission-driven organization with a strong community impact. This is a hands-on leadership role in a small-company environment, overseeing accounting operations and supporting strategic financial initiatives. You’ll work closely with leadership to improve processes, ensure compliance, and provide financial insights that drive organizational success.
What You’ll do
- Oversee all accounting functions, including AP/AR, payroll, bank reconciliations, and monthly reporting.
- Prepare and present financial statements to the finance committee.
- Supervise a part-time accounting assistant and ensure accuracy in transactional processes.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
- Handle insurance renewals and HR onboarding/terminations (with potential to transition HR duties in the future).
- Maintain and improve internal controls and financial processes.
What You’ll Bring
- 4-8 years of full-cycle accounting experience, with ability to balance detail work and strategic thinking.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; CPA a plus but not required.
- Nonprofit experience is helpful but not mandatory.
- Strong communication skills and professionalism for board-level presentations.
- Comfortable wearing multiple hats in a small-team environment.
- Experience with QuickBooks Desktop is a plus.
