Cash Applications & Credit Specialist
Job Description
Cash Applications & Credit Specialist | Up to $28/hr.
Location: Tampa, FL | In-Office | Full-Time
The Cash Applications & Credit Specialist will play a key role in supporting the company’s revenue cycle. The ideal person for this role will take ownership of the credit application process, working closely with customers, sales, and internal leadership to ensure complete and accurate credit packages are prepared for review. While not responsible for making final credit decisions, this role is essential in gathering, vetting, and presenting the information needed to support those decisions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Successful completion of background, drug, and reference checks required.
Responsibilities:
• Manage the intake and processing of customer credit applications, ensuring all required documentation is collected and complete
• Communicate with customers and internal sales teams to clarify credit requirements and gather supporting information
• Vet trade references and compile comprehensive credit packages for CFO and Controller review
• Maintain accurate records of credit applications, terms, and approvals
• Apply incoming payments (checks, ACH, wire, credit card) to customer accounts with accuracy and timeliness
• Research and resolve unapplied cash and payment discrepancies in coordination with AR and billing teams
• Support credit limit monitoring and assist with account reviews as needed
• Contribute to process improvements across credit and cash application workflows
• Assist with audit requests and ensure compliance with internal controls and documentation standards
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support the overall order-to-cash process
Requirements:
• 3+ years of experience in credit, accounts receivable, or cash applications
• General understanding of credit evaluation processes and customer account management
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work directly with customers and internal stakeholders
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Proficiency in Excel and comfort working with manual processes and large data sets
• Experience with a large ERP system required
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Team-oriented mindset with a proactive, problem-solving approach
