Internal Control Analyst Lead

Hybrid – 3 Days in Office (East of Tampa)
Salary: $105,000–$145,000, plus ~10% Bonus (commensurate with experience)

 We are seeking an Internal Control Analyst Lead to own the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of internal controls and SOX documentation. This is a highly visible role partners closely with internal and external audit teams and provides leadership for major system implementations, process enhancements, and internal control initiatives. You will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, process owners, and auditors—guiding the organization through SOX compliance, risk mitigation, and internal control optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Internal Controls & SOX Leadership

  • Lead the development and ongoing maintenance of process documentation, policies, narratives, flowcharts, and SOX control documentation.
  • Serve as a primary liaison with internal audit teams and external auditors on SOX and internal control matters.
  • Remediate SOX deficiencies and help design effective controls for new or evolving business processes.
  • Propose changes to controls and processes and help facilitate the change management lifecycle.
  • Draft and evaluate responses to SOX deficiencies and collaborate with management to implement action plans.
  • Facilitate and coordinate collection of documentation for SOX testing across the organization.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and support continuous improvement initiatives across supported business units.
  • Collaborate with Internal Audit to continually assess risk exposures.
  • Facilitate the procurement and review of SOC 1 reports for in scope systems and third party providers.
  • Develop and deliver Global SOX/Internal Controls training to control owners and stakeholders.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide coaching, feedback, and development guidance to direct and indirect reports.
  • Support performance management and career development activities within the team.
  • Promote an environment of collaboration, transparency, and continuous learning.

Special Projects & New Operations

  • Represent Internal Control as a key participant in major system implementations and company wide initiatives.
  • Assist in designing and evaluating internal controls for new operations, transformation efforts, and M&A activities.
  • Lead or support strategic project work including pre /post implementation reviews.
  • Provide regular project updates to senior finance leadership.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • 7+ years in audit, accounting, or financial analysis.
  • Public accounting and/or internal audit experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, ICFR, and SOX requirements.
  • Solid working knowledge of GAAP.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio.
  • Experience with SharePoint, LiveLink, SAP, or Maximo is a plus.
