VP of Finance
Job Description
We have an incredible opportunity for a seasoned finance leader to join a rapidly growing land development company as VP of Finance. This role offers the chance to work closely with an experienced executive team and play a critical role in building scalable financial infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in technical accounting, including purchase accounting and sales leaseback transactions, and have a strategic mindset to support continued expansion. CPA required.
VP of Finance – Benefits and Compensation
- Collaborative, professional working environment with direct executive exposure (in office in St. Petersburg, with flexibility)
- Outstanding leadership and visibility with CEO
- Highly competitive salary: $175,000 – $210,000 (commensurate with experience), and robust bonus of 40-50% and equity potential
VP of Finance – Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and month-end close
- Prepare and present accurate internal and external financial statements and reports
- Ensure full compliance with GAAP and financial regulatory requirements
- Manage complex technical accounting matters, including:
- Sales leaseback transactions
- Business combinations and purchase accounting
- Partner with the CEO, CFO, and Development team on financing strategies and long-term capital planning for land acquisition and infrastructure development
- Lead audit preparation and serve as the point of contact for external auditors and financial stakeholders
- Strengthen and scale internal controls, financial processes, and accounting policies to support rapid growth
- Evaluate and implement system improvements to drive efficiency and financial insight
- Hire, develop, and lead a high-performing accounting team
VP of Finance – Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s degree a plus, CPA required
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including a blend of public accounting (Big 4 or mid-tier) and industry leadership
- Strong expertise in technical accounting, particularly related to real estate development and land transactions
- Experience supporting financing structures, including debt and equity transactions, and working with lenders/investors
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to thrive in an executive, high-visibility environment
- Experience in the real estate/land development is a plus
