Fund Controller
Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Fund Controller to join one of our longest tenured clients. This role is responsible for managing financial records in accordance with GAAP, supporting the accuracy and integrity of investment and investor equity schedules, and ensuring compliance with SOX requirements. The ideal candidate will excel in maintaining comprehensive workpapers, account reconciliations, and handling ad-hoc projects as needed to support our accounting and finance management teams.

Fund Controller Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Fund Accounting team ensuring optimal performance and professional development.
- Oversee and enforce adherence to strict reporting deadlines to maintain timely and accurate financial deliverables.
- Serve as the primary liaison with fund administrators and external auditors, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
- Maintain and ensure the accuracy of GAAP-compliant financial statements for multiple investment funds and their related entities.
- Oversee the preparation and upkeep of investment and investor equity schedules, ensuring precision and transparency.
- Conduct thorough reviews of quarterly audit workpapers and ensure compliance with SOX backup requirements.
- Manage and execute special projects as assigned, providing strategic and operational support to the accounting and finance leadership teams.
Fund Controller Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA certification required.
- 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within fund accounting or a related industry.
- Exceptional analytical abilities, with a proven track record of identifying insights and resolving complex accounting issues.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience with complex functions and data analysis tools.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks effectively, meet critical deadlines, and handle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven capability to work independently while also contributing as a collaborative member of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and concisely.
