Payroll/Accounting Specialst
Job Description
Payroll/Accounting Specialist | $65k–$75k + Excellent Benefits
Location: Tampa, FL (Hybrid) | Full-Time
Are you an outgoing accounting professional with experience in payroll, accounts receivable, and customer service? If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for you! A well-established and highly respected Tampa-based employer is seeking a Payroll/Accounting Specialist to join their team. This role offers high visibility, strong leadership, and a collaborative environment with room to grow. Reference and background checks are required.
What You’ll Do:
- Handle vendor payables and related duties for a designated business segment
- Process payroll for approximately 200 employees
- Obtain timely approvals for vendor charges and process payments accurately
- Scan and store files, attaching supporting documentation per company guidelines
- Manage expense reimbursements for approved business expenses
- Assist staff accountants with journal entries and month-end reconciliations
- Respond to vendor-related inquiries via internal accounting email
- Prepare bank reconciliations and propose journal entries for discrepancies
- Support management with special projects and take on additional responsibilities
- Collaborate with department leadership and team members
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and bring solutions to leadership
- Participate in special projects and other accounting-related tasks
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3+ years of payroll experience
- Accounting experience highly preferred
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Moderate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including pivots and VLOOKUPs)
- Experience with Concur and NetSuite preferred but not required
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Teams)
- Professional skepticism and critical thinking abilities
- Team-oriented mindset and willingness to learn
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
