Payroll Specialist Benefits and Compensation:

Payroll Specialist Job Duties:
- Ensure timely and precise payroll processing, including wage calculations, adjustments, and deductions.
- Update and manage payroll-related data, including employee details, compensation adjustments, and benefit deductions.
- Oversee and process various payroll deductions, such as benefits, garnishments, and other withholdings.
- Adhere to all relevant payroll laws, tax regulations, and reporting requirements at local, state, and federal levels.
- Respond to and resolve payroll-related questions, discrepancies, and concerns while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
- Execute payroll functions in alignment with company policies and industry best practices.
- Uphold strict confidentiality regarding payroll data, employee compensation, and sensitive financial details.
- Efficiently handle multiple payroll tasks and responsibilities while meeting strict deadlines.
- Work closely with HR, finance, and other departments to ensure smooth payroll operations and compliance.
- Continuously assess payroll workflows and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Payroll Specialist Skills/Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in accounting or business preferred
- 2+ years of experience processing in-house payroll; union exposure would be highly preferred
- Excel – basic to intermediate experience
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience with payroll processing or related tasks
- Ability to analyze and resolve discrepancies
- Comfortable working with diverse teams
- Professional demeanor and presentation
- Strong planning and organizational abilities
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in payroll software and general office applications
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including potentially a weekend day on occasion, as needed
