An excellent, growing Tampa-based company is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage payroll processing and help document standard operating procedures (SOPs). What You’ll Do:
- Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, including wage calculations, adjustments, and deductions
- Maintain and update payroll-related data, including employee records and benefit deductions
- Process various payroll deductions such as garnishments, benefits, and other withholdings
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal payroll laws and tax regulations
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies with professionalism and confidentiality
- Execute payroll functions in alignment with company policies and industry best practices
- Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll data and sensitive financial information
- Manage multiple payroll tasks while meeting strict deadlines
- Collaborate with HR, finance, and other departments to ensure smooth payroll operations
- Continuously evaluate payroll workflows and recommend process improvements
What You Bring:
- Associate’s degree in Accounting or Business preferred
- 2+ years of in-house payroll processing experience; union payroll experience highly preferred
- Basic to intermediate Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience with payroll systems and general office applications
- Ability to analyze and resolve discrepancies independently
- Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal communication skills
- Comfortable working with diverse teams and across departments
- Strong planning and organizational abilities
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends as needed
