Property Accountant
Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Property Accountant to join one of our longest tenured clients. This role is responsible for managing financial records in accordance with GAAP, supporting the annual budget process and ensuring compliance with SOX requirements. The ideal candidate will excel in maintaining comprehensive workpapers, account reconciliations, and handling ad-hoc projects as needed to support our accounting and finance management teams.

- Highly competitive compensation of $60,000 - $75,000, plus potential bonus
Property Accountant Job Duties:
- Oversee the accurate preparation of financial statements for a portfolio of properties, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards.
- Maintain detailed monthly reconciliations and supporting workpapers, including balance sheet accounts.
- Conduct reviews and analysis of property-level financials, focusing on operating statements, balance sheets, accruals, and reclassifications.
- Reconcile bank accounts on a monthly basis.
- Assemble comprehensive reporting packages for investors each month.
- Record and monitor monthly entries for depreciation and amortization.
- Update quarterly audit documentation and compile reports to meet SOX and other regulatory requirements.
- Manage lender reporting on a monthly or quarterly basis as needed.
- Prepare and submit lender replacement reserve documentation.
- Develop end-of-year financial packages and collaborate with external auditors during annual audits.
- Provide support for the annual budgeting process.
- Take on special assignments and offer assistance to accounting and property management teams as required.
Property Accountant Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field, required
- 1+ years of experience in property accounting required
- Solid accounting software experience needed and strong Excel skills a must
- Ability to work independently when necessary
- Proficient in analyzing financial data with a strong attention to detail
- Strong critical and logical thinking skills
- Superb attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and excellent communications skills required
