We are conducting a search for a SOX Consultant to join a top performing team responsible for overseeing all Sarbanes Oxley compliance. This role also has permanent potential!
SOX Consultant Benefits and Compensation:
- A professional working environment (hybrid in Tampa Bay)
- GREAT leadership and high visibility
- Would begin as a 3-month contract role, with potential to convert to permanent if mutual fit
- Highly competitive hourly rate of $50-70/hour (commensurate with experience), with benefits after 90 days and additional bonuses
SOX Consultant Job Duties:
- Lead the design, documentation, and maintenance of SOX 404 controls across all financial and operational processes.
- Establish and manage an effective SOX compliance program, including conducting control assessments, process reviews, and control gap analyses.
- Coordinate and monitor annual SOX testing plans, risk assessments, and control updates, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Work with process owners to design and document control activities, ensuring they are efficient, effective, and aligned with industry best practices.
- Evaluate control deficiencies and coordinate remediation efforts to ensure timely resolution.
- Provide guidance on remediation plans, track progress, and assess the adequacy of control improvements.
- Liaise with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and responses during control testing and year-end audits.
- Conduct internal control testing and assist in the planning and execution of internal audits to ensure compliance with SOX requirements.
- Ensure the timely completion and accuracy of documentation, reporting, and remediation activities.
- Prepare and present periodic reports to management on the status of SOX compliance, control testing results, and remediation efforts.
SOX Consultant Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, CIA, CISA, CPA highly preferred
- 6+ years of experience in public accounting or publicly held company handling SOX
- Proficient use of applicable technology
- Excellent analytical skills
- Strong planning and organization skills and understanding of the importance of deadlines
