Location: Tampa, FL | Hybrid (after training) | Local Candidates Only
We’re working with a growing company that specializes in end-to-end services whose work spans a wide range of solutions, with an established presence across all 50 U.S. states. As part of a major organizational initiative, they’re creating a brand-new role to bring structure and oversight to their sales & use tax processes. This position reports directly to the CFO and will play a central role in a high-priority project backed executive leadership. The company is currently partnering with external tax experts to lay the groundwork and now needs an internal leader to carry it forward. This is a highly collaborative role that will work across departments to implement consistent, compliant tax practices. Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of standardized sales & use tax processes across all 50 states
- Collaborate with the CFO and external tax advisors to refine compliance strategies
- Serve as the internal subject matter expert on multi-state sales & use tax regulations
- Transition tax-related tasks from estimators to a centralized, compliant process
- Review and validate tax treatment on project estimates and invoices
- Maintain and update tax workflows and documentation by state
- Coordinate with project managers, sales, and accounting to ensure tax accuracy
- Support the full utilization and optimization of internal tax software
- Reconcile historical filings and submit corrections or adjustments as needed
- Monitor tax law changes and ensure timely updates to internal processes
- Provide training and guidance to internal teams on tax-related procedures
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with multi-state sales & use tax reporting and compliance
- Familiarity with complex tax scenarios
- Prior experience with tax software a huge plus
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal
- Ability to work quickly and collaboratively without slowing down internal stakeholders
