Senior Accountant

 We are seeking a meticulous Senior Accountant for a professional legal services client located in East Tampa. This client operates within a regulated industry and collaborates with the Regional County area on various settlement and litigation cases throughout Florida. The Managing Partner is looking to add an experienced staff or senior accountant to take full ownership of all operational and daily accounting functions, including invoicing, bookkeeping, accounting operations (AP/AR), payroll, and benefits. This position reports directly to the Managing Partner and has no direct reports. The client operates in a recession-resistant industry, offering excellent compensation, benefits, work-life balance, and long-term stability.  NOTE: This opportunity is 100% onsite in East Tampa for the first 6 months, reducing to hybrid 2-day a week in office schedule. Senior Accountant Benefits and Compensation:

• Outstanding work-life balance, 37.5 hours a week (in-office first 6 months)
• Fully paid employee benefits (medical, dental, life, long-term), 9% retirement contribution
• $65,000 - $90,000, salary commensurate with experience  

Senior Accountant Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage all financial operations and cyclical accounting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with company objectives.
• Maintain the company’s system of accounts, keeping accurate books and records for all transactions and assets. Balance and reconcile accounts, and make necessary adjustments to opening and closing entries.
• Prepare and compile documentation for external accountants to produce monthly and annual reports, including bank reconciliations and proofs of cash.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, audits, and cash flow operations.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
• Draft and submit requests to amend the annual budget, including supporting documentation and justifications.
• Create reports and maintain organized records throughout the year for seamless access by auditors or the Managing Partner upon request.
• Compile payroll data on a bi-weekly basis and submit it to an external accountant or payroll company for processing.
• Prepare and distribute annual compensation and benefits statements to employees.
• Review all employee benefit plans to ensure accurate billing and paycheck deductions.
• Evaluate annual budgets and expenditures to ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines.

Senior Accountant Skills/Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum of 3 years of full-cycle operational accounting experience; public accounting experience is a plus
• Proficient in month-end close procedures, reconciliations, accounting operations (payroll, AR, AP), and financial reporting and analysis.
• Experience in medium to small company environments preferred.
• QuickBooks experience is a plus.
• Comfortable working in a lean, highly visible, and professional environment.
• Corporate headquarters are in East Tampa, FL; candidates must be able to comfortably commute to East Tampa daily.
