Sarasota/Bradenton Area, FL

Posted: 05/22/2026 Category: Accounting Job Number: 22892 Pay Rate: Competitive Salary + Full Benefits

Job Description

Staff Accountant | Sarasota/Bradenton | Competitive Salary + Full Benefits

Step into a foundational accounting role with a close-knit team where your contributions will be visible, your growth path is clearly defined, and the people around you make coming to work genuinely enjoyable. You will begin with core AP, AR, and general accounting responsibilities before expanding into month-end close, job costing, and inventory management as you settle in and demonstrate your capabilities. This is not a siloed, heads-down position — you will interact daily with purchasing, receiving, and shipping teams, making collaboration and clear communication just as important as your technical accounting skills. The office environment is practical and unpretentious, with a grounded, blue-collar culture where people work hard, respect each other, and take pride in what they produce. The team is small by design, meaning your work matters, your voice is heard, and there is real room to grow without getting lost in layers of bureaucracy. If you are an accounting professional who wants to build something meaningful on a team that will actually notice your effort, this is a role worth exploring.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Apply cash receipts, reconcile vendor statements, and follow up on outstanding items in a timely manner.
  • Support general ledger activity and assist with maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Collaborate daily with purchasing, receiving, and shipping teams to resolve coding questions and transactional discrepancies.
  • Contribute to physical inventory counts conducted several times throughout the year.
  • Assist with inventory recordkeeping and support accuracy initiatives as responsibilities expand over time.
  • Grow into month-end close procedures, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Develop working knowledge of job costing processes and contribute to project-level financial tracking.
  • Build and maintain Excel-based reports and tools utilizing pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and other formulas.
  • Enter and manage data within the ERP system, ensuring accuracy and completeness across transactions.
  • Maintain organized financial records and support documentation needs for internal review and compliance.
  • Bring a proactive, team-oriented approach to daily work, supporting colleagues and leadership across the accounting function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field with one to two or more years of accounting experience, OR a solid background in transactional accounting without a degree — both paths are genuinely welcome.
  • Hands-on experience with an ERP system required; familiarity with a variety of platforms considered.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and general formula usage.
  • Manufacturing, distribution, or inventory accounting experience is a plus but not required.
  • Collaborative communicator who is comfortable working cross-functionally in an active, industrial office setting.
  • Highly organized, dependable, and accurate in high-volume transactional environments.
  • Comfortable with a consistent in-office schedule in a practical, blue-collar workplace culture.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen; medical marijuana cardholders are welcome to apply.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Health benefits kick in after 60 days, along with a 401(k) with company match.
  • Ten paid holidays plus two weeks of PTO that accrues over time.
  • Office closes at 4:00pm sharp every Friday — work-life balance is genuinely respected here.
  • Small team environment where your work is noticed, your growth is supported, and you are not just a number.
  • A defined path to take on greater responsibility including close, costing, and inventory as you grow.
  • Streamlined interview process — one in-person conversation and a decision. No drawn-out hiring process.
